Trusted Education Partner in Singapore

SINGAPORE — On March 12, 2026, Uwing International School successfully held its second annual “Uwing Walkathon@Mandai Boardwalk” outdoor event. The activity, hosted by the Student Services Department and organized and executed by the Student Council, saw over 100 participants, including students from the primary and secondary divisions, faculty members, and parents. The group embarked on a trekking challenge along the picturesque Mandai Boardwalk, blending fun, exercise, and personal growth amidst Singapore’s lush natural landscape.

Outdoor Classroom: Learning and Decompressing in Nature

As a renowned ecological trail in Singapore, the Mandai Boardwalk connects several wildlife parks and is home to a rich, diverse ecosystem, serving as a natural outdoor classroom. Walking along the scenic trail, students took a break from their textbooks and academic assignments. While stretching their bodies and relieving academic pressure, they followed teachers’ insights to learn about native flora and fauna. By observing the rainforest ecosystem up close, students deepened their understanding and appreciation of Singapore’s local environment.

Team Spirit: Hand-in-Hand, Delivering Warmth

Uwing International School has always prioritized the use of practical activities to inspire and cultivate cooperation and empathy among students. During the trek, the spirit of mutual assistance was evident throughout. Over the course of the multi-kilometer route, secondary students actively looked after younger pupils, helping to carry their backpacks and offering constant encouragement. During breaks, everyone shared snacks and water, filled with laughter. Even students who are usually more reserved opened up and initiated conversations within the warm, communal atmosphere, narrowing the distance between teachers, students, and peers as they trekked side-by-side.

Home-School Collaboration: Partnering for Growth

Uwing International School remains committed to working alongside supportive parents to build a strong home-school community. As in previous years, parents were warmly invited to participate. Their full-course companionship not only allowed them to witness their children’s courage and growth but also fostered deeper communication. Parents expressed that such outdoor activities are highly meaningful—offering a way to get close to nature, strengthen physical health, and gain a deeper experience of Singapore, all while bringing families and the school closer together. They expressed their anticipation for more exciting events in the future.

Education Beyond the Classroom: Encountering a Better Self

“Learning Beyond the Classroom” has been the cornerstone of Uwing International School’s mission throughout its 17 years in Singapore. The school firmly believes that comprehensive education extends far beyond academic achievements; physical and mental health, social responsibility, teamwork, and environmental awareness are equally essential subjects in the journey of growth. This walkathon serves as a continuation and practical application of this educational philosophy.

Looking forward, Uwing International School will continue to organize outdoor practical activities, allowing students to broaden their horizons and hone their character while exploring nature and challenging themselves. Through these experiences, the school aims to nurture well-rounded, compassionate, and responsible global citizens.
